lindt hashtag #excellencepairingsEver wanted to learn more about wine and chocolate and pair it all up in an evening of indulgence? Well the lovely people at Lindt have teamed up with the amazing people at Vinopolis to create the ultimate evening of pleasure.

Carefully (and I do not mean this in any sort of flippant way) pairing chocolate and a variety of different wines, Lindt and Vinopolis teamed up and worked, disagreed, and fought to create the absolutely perfect pairings. From Roasted Sesame chocolate paired with Canard-Duchene Champagne to bring out the nutty flavours and caramel taste to a Touch of Sea Salt with a classic Malbec drawing out the fruitiness of the wine.

lindt wine pairing eveningSeven wines with seven chocolates – we got to try five on the test run of the event held for press at Vinopolis over one long lunch (I wish I had the afternoon off as some wine was glorious and I wanted more). It was a really interesting experience because sometimes the choices a chocolatier and master of wine have to make are restricted by the sponsor but here the only restriction is the chocolate and it shows.

The masterful pairing of wine with different chocolates brings the best out of both the wine and the chocolate. Either complimentary or contrasting, you are led through a taste journey that itself has been carefully planned as the chocolate and wine has to naturally balance around itself as well as what has come before.

lindt speakingIt is extremely rare that I get the pleasure of tasting a pairing of chocolate and wine that works for more than one of the chocolates in the set. It was such a pleasure to finally experience a wine and chocolate pairing where such masterful blending of flavours took place. This session has been devised by Lindt’s Master Chocolatier and Vinopolis’resident wine expert to ensure these are the perfect pairings so you know you’ll have an amazing time!

I do recommend this evening event which takes 1.5h and is happening the last Thursday of each month starting in January. The whole evening including chocolate and wine is priced at a reasonable £40 per person.  You can gift it as well as buy it for yourself plus Roast is across the way for post-tasting cocktails and nibbles 😉 BUY A TICKET (or three) HERE
