Sir Hans Sloane Dark Drinking Chocolate Beads ReviewI was at a chocolate event when I managed to score a tin of these chocolate pearls from Bill himself, the owner and man behind the Sir Hands Sloane brand.  He had finished demonstrating and the tin was open and after having been looked at by a few folk he offered them to me to take home.  Of course I said yes and promptly popped a few in my mouth.

I think that I have somewhat high standards for hot chocolate.  It annoys me when places sell thick hot chocolate which is actually made from a powder. I’m not sure how they think that when you can clearly taste the powder that they are somehow fooling you into thinking it is real chocolate.  This, however, is real hot chocolate you can make at home.

Sir Hans Sloane Dark Drinking Chocolate Beads ReviewThe pearls themselves are round and they are delicious to eat on their own.  They have added sugar so when you eat them, they are both dark and sweet.  This means the hot chocolate that these beads make is sweet enough for almost anyone while still giving that rich chocolaty taste.  I used around 200mL of milk and 3 spoonfuls of beads and mixed them in.

Sir Hans Sloane Dark Drinking Chocolate Beads ReviewI think that if you’re going to make yourself a hot chocolate with these beads, it is well worth investing in a whisk.  They are extremely inexpensive and they mix the hot chocolate up perfectly.  As you can see below, I got less than ideal results when I used just a spoon and I think if you are going to drink quality hot chocolate, the whist is a tiny investment.
