Le Pain Quotidien Chocolate Spreads Range Review
This set of 4 spreads represents part of the range of spreads that Le Pain Quotidien has to offer but I’m guessing that they are the most popular. This range of chocolate spreads covers white chocolate, dark chocolate, praline and noisella which is like Nutella. These are sweet and though they are small they do pack a punch of sugar and most have quite a distinct flavour.
The Noir chocolate spread is a dark chocolate spread which is still quite sweet. As you can see, I’ve spread a good amount onto the bread here and it was absolutely lovely. This is a delicious chocolate spread for anyone who does not like their chocolate too bitter as well as anyone who likes a richer chocolate flavour in their sugary spread. Delicious and of all the spreads, this is my absolute favourite.
The Brunette praline spread is a lovely sweet hazelnut spread. For those who don’t like chocolate, this is the perfect balance. It is the other half of noisella I guess. I thought it would be too nutty but I was surprised at how sweet it was and how not-nutty it was when I spread it on the bread. It is still not chocolaty but it is nicely sweet and nutty.
The Blondie white chocolate spread was sweet without much flavour to distinguish it from the other spreads. It was OK but not the best. I’m sure, though, for people who get migraines from chocolate/cocoa and who don’t like too strong a chocolate flavour this is going to be perfect.
The Noisella hazelnut and chocolate spread was just like Nutella but I think to my palette the chocolate was richer, there was less of a hazelnut flavour and it tasted less sugary. I’m not sure if it was just I haven’t had Nutella today or if it was a remnant of the Noir chocolate spread or something else but it seemed more chocolaty and less sugary.
All and all I have to say I’m addicted to the Noir. If it wasn’t for that pesky wheat intolerance I’d eat it every day but it means that when it comes time to select a topping for my special bread treat it’ll be Noir (or maple butter… I *am* Canadian after all 😉 )
Solution to the wheat intolerance issue: eat it with a spoon.

Thanks. I was looking for a review on these spreads. I’ve seen them in the window while passing by the store, but always felt they were a bit too pricy for me to purchase for myself. I’m going to get the Noir as a present.
I brought a jar of Blondie in Tonbridge Market, with no sell by date on it nor on the lid, Its sweet not to much taste, but a nice spread.
It could be used as sweet butter with a rough texture.
